IDENTITY SHIELD ACTIVITY (30 POINTS) Points explained in class.
We'll learn a lot about each other, and it helps break down barriers, making discussions easier in class.
1. DRAW A PERSONAL SHIELD (example shown in class) on 8 1/2 x 11" white card stock.
2. DIVIDE IT INTO 4 equal parts.
3. STARTING ON UPPER LEFT & MOVING CLOCKWISE, PUT
NUMBERS 1 TO 4 IN UPPER INSIDE CORNERS. (#4 will be under
#1)
4. On the front: EACH PART ILLUSTRATES SOMETHING ABOUT
YOU:
1) Things I'm proud of or I like about myself...
2) Things I don't like about myself...
3) How the world sees me...
4) Things I plan to and can change...
5. You can illustrate it by drawing or pasting on the front of your
shield 3 pictures or symbols in each part. (Some use stick figures.)
If really stuck, cut out a word or phrase to illustrate the idea. Use
at least 2 colors other than black. More won't get more points, but
no color at all will lose points. Markers, color pencils, paint, etc.
can be used to draw pictures. If ball point pen or regular pencil,
points are lower.
6. On the back of your shield, you will list in back of each illustration, exactly what you put in each of the 4 parts on front. (Starting on the front upper
left and going clockwise, number 1 will be on the upper right side and
explanations and numbers will be counter clockwise- explained in class.)
7. BE SURE explanations are directly in back of the items on front.
8. Do NOT use more than 3 items per quadrant on the front. Think!
See the sample given in class or on website. Ask questions if needed
before you make it! Explain it in front of class for points.
